Content Creator

Job Description

The Content Creator within the Communications team is responsible for producing original content that aligns with brand standards, including writing scripts, blogs, and articles for publication. They edit national packages, videos, and other content for the FOMB website, social media accounts, and other channels, ensuring accuracy and consistency in language, style, and tone through editorial reviews. They also work with leads and other departments to plan and develop original content, revise materials as needed.

Essential Role and Responsibilities

  • Writes original content within brand standards including scripts, blogs, articles, etc. for publication.
  • Edits Nat packages, videos, and other content for FOMB website, social media accounts and other channels.
  • Conducts editorial reviewed to ensure accuracy and consistency in language, style and tone.
  • Collaborates effectively with other content writers and creators to brainstorm ideas and produce content. 
  • Identifies and plans content with lead and other departments to generate original content.
  • Revises content whenever the request changes.
  • Promotes a positive work environment that encourages individuals and groups to achieve their goals in the organization. 
  • Other tasks which may be required by operation needs.

Key Relationships

Internal Relationships

Daily contact with the Director and staff to achieve the objectives of PROMESA.

External Relationships

Frequent contact with advisors, government agencies, attorneys and other stakeholders as needed.

Supervisory responsibilities

This position does not involve supervisory responsibility. 

Requirements for the position

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of relevant writing experience in the news media or public relations, ideally both.
  • At least 5 years of experience in developing visual content, including editing visual content.
  • Experience with storytelling through writing and video (samples will be requested).
  • Experience with fully bilingual workspaces (English/Spanish).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graphics & Audio Integration: Expert-level skill in creating and integrating motion graphics, text, and audio into videos.
  • Videography & Photography Skills: Experience shooting professional-quality video (interviews, b-roll, event coverage, etc.) and photography (events, studio, etc.). Familiar with tools like cameras, tripods, lighting, and microphones.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Experience working in fast-paced environments such as newsrooms or media outlets, producing same-day video turnarounds.
  • Production & Multimedia Journalism: Background in production or multimedia journalism with the ability to develop story ideas, write scripts, conduct interviews, proofread on-screen text, and shoot and edit video content.
  • Podcast Production: Experience producing multi-camera video podcasts with professional lighting, audio setup, and on-camera hosting.

Skills and Competencies

  • Writing: Experienced in writing articles, blogs, scripts, FAQs & talking points and other content. Ability to turn complicated information into reader-friendly content that an audience with little knowledge of the topics can understand.
  • Video editing: Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs, especially Premiere Pro. Knowledge of other related programs (After Effects, etc.) is a plus.
  • Videography/Photography: Understanding of composition, framing, and ideally TV and cinematography terms, with an ability to apply them in post-production.
  • Team Collaboration: Comfortable collaborating with editors, producers, content creators, and other team members. Creative mind open to receiving feedback, and refining content based on team input.
  • Script-Driven Editing: Ability to produce high-quality content following scripts with timecodes and detailed instructions for text, graphics, and other media elements.
  • Deadline Management: Comfortable managing tight deadlines and working under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including awareness of, and comfort with inclusive language
  • Bilingual: Fluency and Proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to write, proofread, and edit content in both languages. Comfortable speaking in both languages.
  • Remote Working Capability: Able to work in a virtual environment, including editing during virtual meetings and collaborating virtually and in real-time with producers.
